Project CARINA which means Collaborative Action in Reading Instruction to Nurture Achievers is a collaborative action in reading instruction that aims to improve the reading performance of Grade One pupils in the District of Oton. The reading program is sponsored by the Local Government of Oton, barangay officials, as well as the stakeholders.
Through Project CARINA, Grade one pupils who were identified as non-readers will have to undergo daily intensive remediation to master letter names, letter sounds and blending sounds used to form words. Said intervention will be conducted daily from 4:00-5:00 o’clock in the afternoon on school days from July 2017 to January 2019 with a maximum capacity of fifteen pupils per class.
The district orientation and launching of Project CARINA (Collaborative Action in Reading Instruction to Nurture Achievers) and VF Math (Very Friendly Math) to those who are struggling in the field of Mathematics SY 2018-2019 occurred on June 29, 2018 at Oton Central Elementary School together with distinguished guests ASDS Dr. Lilibeth Estoque, SPES Dr. Kim Arcena, Federated PTA Pres. Engr. Wilson Otero, and Mayor Carina V. Flores.
